Hello and Welcome to My Rhymes and Reasons. I’m gathered with a flock of ducks at Ellis Pond in my neighborhood on this beautiful day as we celebrate the arrival of spring! It is awesome and here at this little getaway where the ducks come to swim.
I don’t know if choir practice is about to begin or not but they are in full voice here at Ellis Pond. I’m doing a photo shoot today. I write an article every month for a magazine here on Mercer Island.
Because of the location of Ellis Pond in the middle of our neighborhood, it seems an appropriate perspective to talk about Walden Pond and some of the insights that Henry David Thoro offered so many years ago when he called for contemplation and solitude and finding a place apart from the routine of everyday life.
