About Your Host
Welcome to Sincerely Uplifting. I am so glad that you are here to celebrate with me in my goals to promote a happier life. Being uplifting is something I have always strived to be.
You are probably wondering who I am?
Who am I?
Business
Back at the end of 2001, after my Dad retired from the insurance business I decided to work from home. After working for my Dad for 8 years I felt it was my time to go also.
Immediately I decided to start my own soybean candle business. My sister owned a country brick and mortar store and I felt I could supply her for a lower cost than she was paying. I am going to save you the long story, but I eventually sold her my candle making business. Later down the road, I bought back my candle business along with the other items she had added to it and did retail and wholesale out of my home.
In 2006 I started dabbling in teaching myself how to make websites. Searching on the internet is how I figured out what I needed to learn. At the time the information I was looking for wasn’t always easy to find. The learning was slow, but I am so glad I took the time to do so. By 2016 I had taught myself enough to fix other bloggers websites.
In 2009 I opened What U Talking Bout Willis where I shared entertainment via Disney, Shout Factory and more. There were reviews for movies, giveaways as well as interviews from eight paid trips to California by Disney. I sold What U Talking Bout Willis in April of 2020 and spent the rest of 2020 finding a new way.
Personally
I am Becky Willis from the tourist town of Watkins Glen NY. My husband Roger and I have 3 grown children (2 sons, and 1 daughter). We also have a wonderful daughter-in-law who is married to our oldest son and 2 beautiful and fun grandchildren (1 girl -age 10 and 1 boy -age 5 1/2 years old). Roger and I have been married for 25 years this past September 2020. In the past 2 years, we have lived in many places due to losing our house to a house fire (on October 12, 2018). Although they were getting old age, our last 2 dogs were sisters and about 11 years old at the time were lost in the fire.
We moved back to our new house in early June 2020 and have been enjoying finally having our own house to call home. Almost two years of living place to place can take a toll on your wellbeing.
On August 31st, 2020 we welcomed an 8 week old Great Dane that we named Jasper. Roger and I traveled to Tennesee from New York state to get him. He has helped us with the loss of our last 2 dogs from our fire even though it was almost two years since our loss. Once a dog lover, always a dog lover.
