And Jesus Wept Over Jerusalem- My Rhymes and Reasons with Greg 10.11.24

Today’s topic is “And Jesus Wept Over Jerusalem.” It’s a Friday. Greg Asimakoupoulos is here as we celebrate the second Friday of October together, and this day begins over Seattle. Dark rains are still dark, and dawn has yet to come on this beautiful skyline of a city that was spiritually shrouded in darkness 100 years ago.

There was a Norwegian immigrant Pastor, a young man named Abram V, who came to this city because he felt led by the Lord to plant himself and commit himself to praying for a city that was not that old, only half a century old, yet Pastor Vady had a heart for the city.

Like Chris Tomlin, who wrote that wonderful worship chorus that we sing in church, “You are Lord of this city, you are the king of these people, you are God’s greater things are still to come, greater things are yet to be done in this city.”

If Abram Vady were still living today, he would voice that song with anticipation, but he didn’t know those words. He did know that Jesus wept over Jerusalem, a city shrouded in darkness in his day. A city for which he wept, a city for which he prayed, this city that has punctuated my life for seven decades. It is a city known worldwide as the headquarters of Boeing, Eddie Bower, REI, Starbucks, Microsoft, Nordstrom, Expedia, Amazon, and other companies have begun in this city. You can hear more about it in the video above.
