On the Banks of the Snoqualmie River on Today’s My Rhymes and Reasons with Greg

It’s Greg Asimakoupoulos with today’s edition of My Rhymes and Reasons on the Banks of the Snoqualmie River. It is a murky-ish river, but a fast-moving river. You can see the speed at which the current is flowing. It’s a pretty spot. A rafting river, I wouldn’t suggest swimming in this river. While the current is rushing at this speed today, I’d like to reflect on rivers in scripture, and I think you understand the importance of rivers in both the Old and the New Testament.

The rivers are mentioned in the Old and New Testaments, as they define the redemptive story of God’s people. The Nile River became a place where the infant Moses was found in a bulrushes by one of Pharaoh’s daughters.

Wow, of course, if you go back to the very beginning of the Old Testament in earlier chapters of Genesis, you find reference to the Euphrates River and what flowed out of the Garden of Eden, come with me into the New Testament, and you are finding yourself revisiting the Jordan River which was the entrance into the land of promise, a land flowing with milk and honey.

God’s people found themselves crossing over not through a fast-running current but on a dry riverbed, but I have been to the Jordan River, and it’s not much wider than what you’re seeing here at the Snoqualmie River outside of Seattle. You can hear more in the video above.

If you missed our last My Rhymes and Reasons, it is right here.
