Campus of North Park Theological Seminary

It’s Greg Asimakoupoulos with today’s edition of my rhymes and Reasons from the campus of North Park Theological Seminary here on the near north side of the Windy City, the beautiful great city of Chicago. And I know Chicago gets a lot of bad wraps. It really is an influential world class city.

We had the privilege of living in Chicagoland for 11 years where we raised our three daughters. I’m a graduate of North Park theological Seminary and this is one of my favorite parts of the campus as the bell, the Carolon bell tolls in the background. I’m recording this in front of a sculpture of one of my favorite hymnwriters, Lena Sandell. Born in 1832, she lived till 1903.

But during those years of her life, Lena put to paper beautiful poetry. poetry that has been sung in churches for decades around the world. Lena Sandell would eventually marry a man by the name of Mr. Berg and her formal name Carolina Sandell Berg, but her dad and mom knew her as Lena there in Sweden.

If you missed our last My Rhymes and Reasons post, it is here.
