Church Camp Mission Springs on Today’s My Rhymes and Reasons 11.19.24

It’s Greg Asimakoupoulos with today’s edition of My Rhymes and Reasons. Santa Cruz mountains—well, that’s where our kids went to Church Camp Mission Springs Conference Center in Scotts Valley in the Santa Cruz mountains. As you can tell from the sweatshirt my oldest daughter, Kristen, gave me some years ago, Santa Cruz factored into our family’s life in a Big Way. That’s where they learned to trust the Lord in deeper and more meaningful ways. A week at Camp made such a big difference.

Then Kristen, who gave me this sweatshirt during college, would work during the summers at Mount Herman, another fantastic Christian Camp in Conference Center in the Santa Cruz mountains, in Felton just north of the boardwalk in Santa Cruz. It’s got me thinking here in Pioneer Park, where Wendy and I have the privilege of walking regularly.

It’s like being in the Santa Cruz mountains. It reminds me of the importance of Camp here in the Pacific Northwest. Our church, the Covenant Church, has a beautiful Conference Center and Campground called Cascades Camp. On clear sunny days, it’s just outside of Yelm on the way to Mount Rainier.

The view of Mount Rainier from Cascades Camp is spectacular. There are so many things about that camp, and now that my little kids and our middle daughter have grown up, Allison is married to a pastor, Tim Anderson, with two little girls of their own. They’ve taught their kids the importance of attending church camp. Recently, our son-in-law Tim was leading worship at a youth retreat. You can listen to more of it in the video above.

If you missed our last My Rhymes and Reasons, it is here.
