Forever Stamps -Today’s My Rhymes and Reasons 7.26.24

Greg here with Friday’s edition of My Rhymes and Reasons. I just purchased some Forever Stamps. You have an investment if you got these a few years ago and still have some. Do you know that the price of a First Class letter just went up last week? Now it’s 73 cents for a stamp, one stamp. How times have changed!

This post office opened back in 1961 when John F. Kennedy was President. Now here, all these years later, what is it? Sixty-three years later, Robert Kennedy, JFK’s nephew, is running for President. He’s a long shot, and it’s just an indication of how time marches on. What goes around comes around right, but the cost of mailing a first-class letter is now 73 cents. Oh, for things that would stay the same, right? That’s what I am thinking about today.

Yesterday, we discussed Grace and how God’s grace covers what we can’t afford. Even though I was able to shell out enough to buy a sheet of stamps to mail my current batch of letters, I’m longing for the days when we would pay what, 5 cents for a first-class letter. It was almost that back when we were kids, but no longer. Grace, however, is still the same price; it’s prepaid, like buying forever stamps.

Ten years ago, if you got your these stamps, when it was back, like 45 cents per stamp, it’s almost doubled now, yet these stamps, once purchased, still work even when the cost of the new first-class stamp has gone up. So think about that; maybe it’s worth buying your forever stamps in bulk. To hear more, click on the video above…
