From the Dock at Covenant Living at the Shores

Hey it’s Greg Asimakoupoulos with today’s edition of My Rhymes and Reasons from the dock at Covenant Living at the Shores. One of my favorite places over the last 10 years to come sit, meditate, and reflect. I love these kayaks here at the the dock. They are overturned indicating not currently being used. As I see these empty boats on this the Tuesday after Easter, I’m thinking about another fleet of empty boats.

The fleet of boats I am thinking about are at the Sea of Galilee. You know when Jesus called Peter and his brother Andrew. When he called the sons of Zebedee James and John, those fishermen were recommissioned. They were no longer fishing for fish. They began to fish for people.

Jesus was quite clear in his commission to them and they responded obediently. As I’ve said recently, I love how The Chosen on TV, that streaming series, that many of you are watching. The chosen as the disciples are pictured as being much like you and I are indecisive impulsive desirous of pleasing others.

Yet with a heart that desires to please God. When Peter and Andrew, James, John and the others gave up fishing, they began to experience a renewed sense of purpose in their lives. Then Good Friday, then Easter Sunday and they were bewildered. They were bewildered because the one that had been their constant companion on a daily basis for about three and a half years was not always there that long weekend before Easter… You can hear the rest in the video above.
