It’s Greg Asimakoupoulos with my brother-in-law Chris Romig for today’s edition of My Rhymes and Reasons.

That familiar melody is one you often hear this time of the year and was written by a little known composer by the name of Alfred Bert who only lived to be 33 years old and died in 1954 leaving a wife and a three-year-old daughter. Today we want to talk about the Christmas carols of Alfred Bert.

Chris, you have been a pastor. You’ve been a church musician. You are a Renaissance man. As far as I’m concerned, you’re very interest in presidential politics, history, having grown up in the Washington DC area, you’ve informed me much about our nation’s capital. But, I appreciate what you as a musician bring to this season of the year. Recently we had a carol sing at your church that I was privileged to be part of. It was great. You did a great job.

If you missed our last My Rhymes and Reasons post, it is here.
