Labor Day Edition of My Rhymes and Reasons 9.01.25

Hey, it’s Greg Asimakoupoulos with a Labor Day edition of My Rhymes and Reasons.

Much of our nation is relaxing today, barbecuing, enjoying family and friends, backyard games, table games, some recreation, maybe watching some ball games, and I hope reflecting upon the privilege of work, whether you are still working or retired like I am, being able to celebrate the fact that there is meaning in meaningful work.

Hopefully at least one of the jobs that you’ve had in your lifetime has been that in which you have been able to do that which you are gifted in that you enjoy doing. So that going to work is not work but maybe a labor of love. The Latin word that results in the English word vocation has to do with being called.

So hopefully in our vocation, we feel called to what we do. I know I’ve had the the privilege of being able to spend much of my ministerial career in these last 46 years doing what I feel equipped and called to do. I hope that in your line of work there has been that pleasure as well.

If you missed our last My Rhymes and Reasons post, it is here.
