The Lion Monument in Luthern Switzerland 6.19.25 with Greg Asimakoupoulos
Greg Asimakoupoulos is here with today’s edition of My Rhymes and Reasons. Today I’m here at the Lion Monument in Luthern Switzerland.
If you’ve been following these daily podcasts for over a year you know that his is one of my most favorite places in Switzerland. In fact last year when my wife and I had the privilege of being here for three months serving the International Church of Luthern.
This is an English-speaking interdenominational congregation this became my place of meditation Just about a 10-minute walk from the church is the Wounded Lion Monument. It was sculpted from a rock wall in 1821.
I’m here with my Seattle Pacific alumni thermos reflecting on memories of the past year. It’s a wonderful place and I’m going to move so that people coming to view the legend will not necessarily have to move as we take a look at this face. Look at this amazing beast created as I said. In 1821 to commemorate the Swiss Guard, 760 soldiers who lost their lives in 1792 attempting to protect the King of France.
Well my cup of memories overflows today. To be back after a year is a wonderful thing as the alumni ambassador which I was not a year ago for my alma mater. But what also occurs to me today is that it was 150 years ago this month that I have recently graduated from Seattle Pacific University. I was the college representative coming with the Seattle Pacific Singers. You can hear more in the video above.
