Living in Unity with Greg Asimakoupoulos-My Rhymes and Reasons 10.23.24
Today’s message from Greg is about living in unity.
It’s Greg Asimakoupoulos with Wednesday’s edition of My Rhymes and Reasons. Did you ever see the movie Sleepless in Seattle, with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks? I did. I’ve seen it a few times, and this is the houseboat that was used for the filming of that 1993 movie. Isn’t it charming?
Among the boats on Lake Union, just east of Queen Anne Hill, just about a mile and a half from Seattle Pacific University, where my wife and I graduated in 1974, I love this little houseboat. It’s so charming and quaint, and you probably can recall some of the dialogue from within this little houseboat in that memorable movie.
Well, I want to focus on the fact that it is located in a floating home on Lake Union. Lake Union is so named because it unites Lake Washington, the lake in the middle of which is Mercer Island, where my family lives. It’s a foot-shaped island in the middle of a freshwater lake, and then Lake Union unites Lake Washington with Puget Sound, which is salt water.
Interesting. It got my attention today because I want to talk about living in unity. Living in Unity on Lake Union or wherever, how do you do that in our divided society? Our divided United States of America, our red and blue states. As we approach election day, we are all the more divided. Do we find ourselves living on Lake Union in unity? I want to explore that with you because I think that’s what God desires us to find ways to live in peace. You can listen to more in the video above.
