My Rhymes and Reasons from Covenant Living at the Shores
Hey, it’s Greg Asimakoupoulos with today’s edition of My Rhymes and Reasons from Covenant Living at the Shores. It’s been a while since I’ve been down to the campus where for 10 years I had the privilege of serving as the chaplain. As we enter into the Advent season, approaching Christmas, getting the Christmas tree put up, decorated, lights strung.
Here I’m drawn to another tree, not a Christmas tree, but resurrection tree. You know the story.
I think some of you are new to these My Rhymes and Reasons podcasts and maybe are not familiar with resurrection tree.
So, let me just briefly recount why this tree factors so significantly into my life here as chaplain and my sense of God’s presence of renewal and rebirth.
As we approach the celebration of the birth of Christ, this tree calls to mind the resurrection of Jesus and what we celebrate at Easter.
I call it resurrection tree because this willow tree is about 120 years old and some seven or eight years ago in the middle of the summer in the middle of the night this beautiful willow tree collapsed and died. (continue at 1:41 in the video)
