Enjoy today’s My Rhymes and Reasons today from Ellis Pond.
It’s a Wednesday, as always. Greg Asimakoupoulos is your host for these daily visits. We call it My Rhymes and Reasons today from Ellis Pond, nestled in the center of Mercer Island. It is a beautiful little piece of real estate in the midst of homes, not far from the Jewish High school and not far from the synagogue where our Orthodox friends Walk To Worship each Saturday.
I love coming to Ellis Pond because it is a secluded pocket of peace. The ducks love it as well, as you can see. Ellis Pond reminds me of the lyrics to a Ralph Carmichel song in the ’60s, more than 50 years ago. Ralph wrote there is a quiet place far from the rapid pace where God can soothe my troubled mind. In the background, I hear traffic, but here, on the edge of the water, peace, tranquility, a piece of quiet.
I like that expression as a piece of quiet. We all long for peace and calm in our lives. Many of you watch this at the beginning of the day before the day confronts us with responsibilities and obligations. Unexpected interruptions where we can begin. You can hear more about it in the video above.
