Labor Day Weekend This Friday 8.29 for My Rhymes and Reasons
Hey, it’s Greg Asimakoupoulos with today’s edition of My Rhymes and Reasons on this Friday of Labor Day weekend. A weekend that finds us celebrating the unofficial end of summer. I don’t like that because I think there’s still about three more weeks to go according to the calendar. I’m going to live into every day of this season of the year.
Today, I want to reference Galatians 6:14 this Friday of Labor Day Weekend.
God forbid that I should glory save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Without the cross, our faith is empty. The cross is God’s plus sign. God’s transcendent grace comes down and transforms the minus signs of our lives into God’s ultimate plus sign.
And I want to talk about that as we think of labor and the wood shop in back of me makes me think of the fact that Jesus as a boy was tutored in woodworking by his father. We’re told that Joseph was a carpenter by trade. Jesus no doubt learned the trade from his earthly father. Yet it was his woodworking on a hill outside of Jerusalem where his ultimate masterpiece was finished. In fact, he said that, didn’t he? As he died on the cross, it is finished.
