Never Be Bullied into Silence-Daily Meditation 10.21.22

Today’s quotation:

Never be bullied into silence.  Never allow yourself to be made a victim.  Accept no one’s definition of your life, but define yourself.-Harvey Fierstein

Today’s Meditation:

You are you, and what a beautiful creation you are!  What a magnificent mind you’ve been given, and what awesome abilities to think and reach conclusions and define yourself and your own life.  You are you, and no one else can be you.  No one else can tell you what or how you should be.  No one else can tell you how to act or how to treat other people or how to live your life.

That is unless you let them do so.

You can allow other people to control you if you wish to allow such a thing.  And there are plenty of insecure people out there who would love to take you up on that possibility if you show it to them by the way you act, and the things you say.  But once you allow someone else to have that much influence over you, you no longer are living as your authentic self, but as something else, something less beautiful because the beauty has been stifled by the controlling tendencies of some other person.

We often see people try to control other people, intimidate them and control and victimize them.  The results of such actions never are very pretty.  Let your beauty and your self shine brightly, and you’ll be a beacon that other people can look to, an inspiration to anyone who needs a role model as inspiration to help them to shine brightly themselves.  Don’t allow others to put out your beautiful flame–define questions to consider: yourself and define your life, and live it as fully as you possibly can!

Questions to consider:

Why do some people try to bully others into silence?

Have you defined yourself?  Aspects of yourself?  How?

Do you ever allow yourself to be a victim?  Do you like it?

For further thought:

Coming to appreciate your worth can, in some cases, dramatically improve your circumstances by changing the choices you make and the actions you take.  And as you begin to treat yourself with more respect, other people begin to do the same, since we subconsciously “train” others how to treat us through messages we send through body language, tone of voice, and other subtle cues and behaviors.  Discovering your innate worth and living from that place allows you to make more constructive choices–to choose the higher roads of life. -Dan Millman
