Dear Shared Heart Friends,
Welcome to our home on this warm July day. Today’s little lesson video is about the power of appreciation, not waiting to express your love and gratitude to the people around you. How often do we wait until I’ll wait for the right moment? I’ve just had experiences lately that make it vital to appreciate right at the moment, right when you’re feeling it.
So this is a true story. It’s not about us, but it’s about a young man that we know. This young man’s father had died when he was young, and he had a lot to work out in his mind, a lot of emotional stuff. He used to hang out at this bar. Not to get drunk—I mean, he did drink—but mainly because the people that went there were the same over and over again, and they also served.
He used to go and have dinner there and be with the guys there. One day he went and this one, he was told that this one man who was older than him had been rushed to the hospital. So this man stopped what he was doing, and he hadn’t had a drink, and he went to the hospital, and he saw his friend from the bar and as it turns out the friend was dying, and this young man said I’ve never told you, but you’re like my father to me my father died when I was young.
I’ve wanted to tell you how much I love you and what you have meant to me all these years. This older man reached out and held him, and he said I’ve been meaning to tell you that you’re like my son. My son died when he was young, and you’re an anyway it was so so beautiful, and this young man came back from that experience, and he saw him, and he said why do we wait?
Anyway, a week later, he had this dream that another man from the bar was going to die soon, so the following evening, when he was at the bar, he went right up to this man, and he said, you know, I’ve never really told you how much I appreciate you. I feel you’re such a wonderful person, and this Man’s eyes filled with tears, and he said, oh, you know, I’ve just really needed to hear that, and I feel the same way about you, and the two of them had this beautiful… You must listen to the video to hear the rest of this story and a song from Barry.
