Today’s video talk is about Psalm 42. It’s Monday, and it’s Greg with today’s My Rhymes and Reasons edition. I was out for my morning walk when I came across this beautiful animal sheltering from the heat.
The temperature on the day I’m recording is projected to go up to 99°, even though it’s in the morning and the cool of the day. This little animal takes advantage of the cool air the shadows respite from the intense sun. Not every day you get this close to a Bambi-like creature that’s so delicate and strong.
My little granddaughters would love this vantage point, but they’re still asleep. As I focus on this beautiful animal, I’m reminded of Psalm 42, where the psalmist writes, “As the deer panteth for the water, so my soul longeth after thee. Oh God. That’s the title of my new book, which has not yet been released. It’s called “As the Deer,” A book of uncommon prayer. But in Psalm 42, my friend Marty wrote that beautiful worship chorus, “As the deer panteth for the water so my soul longeth after thee, it’s a good reminder to thirst after God to… you can hear the rest in the video above.
