My Rhymes and Reasons by Greg Asimakoupoulos

Submission My Rhymes and Reasons for February 16, 2026

Submission

Greg Asimakoupoulos with today’s edition of my rhymes and reasons about submission from the Dairy Queen in Marysville, Washington.

An unusual location for today’s devotional thought, but one that has special meaning for me or it recalls significant memories, on this footprint.

Back in 1957, my Dad was called to be the pastor of the Assembly of God Church here in Marysville, which is about 45 miles north of Seattle.

Will you be using this for your home?

It was a converted funeral home that my dad was called to, now a church. Today, it’s the Dairy Queen here in Marysville. But for the years that we lived in Marysville, from 1957 to 1964, my elementary school years, my Dad pastors this church and my mom was kind of the unpaid associate pastor. She was your stereotypical pastor’s wife. She led the Sunday school department. She led the women’s missionary organization. She was the organist, the church soloist and many a Sunday night my mom would bring a message and song before my dad came to the pulpit.

If you missed our last My Rhymes and Reasons post, it is here.
