The Prospect of a New Day| Daily Meditation-December 17, 2021
Today’s Quotation:
I have always been delighted at the prospect of a new day, a fresh try, one more start, with perhaps a bit of magic waiting somewhere behind the morning.

Today’s Meditation:
This is exactly what we’ve been given today–a fresh start. There is a prospect of a a new day. And we’ve got the choice of how we’re going to enter this day, how we’re going to approach it, how we’re going to act during it. The day will do its share–it has plenty to give us, plenty to make available to us, plenty of wonder and magic all around for each one of us. The question, I suppose, is whether or not we’re going to take advantage of what the day has to offer.
On this day, I’m going to have opportunities to talk to many extremely nice people, people who have interesting things to teach me if I’ll take the chance to learn. I’m going to pass by some very beautiful trees and flowers, and I’ll have the chance to see some beautiful landscapes. I’ll also have the chance to see some fascinating architecture and some very unique buildings, not to mention the great books and pictures and pieces of art that are available to me whenever I want to look at them.
What happened yesterday really doesn’t matter. I may be facing some consequences of yesterday’s actions, but I can approach those completely independently of how things occurred yesterday, no matter how negative or positive they might have been. Today, I can use my fresh start to forge a new day in my life, to define it on its own terms, and to create something I can look back on with pleasure and satisfaction.
There’s always a bit of magic waiting in every day. It’s kind of like the prizes in cereal boxes, though–if we don’t look for them and seek them out, they stay there in the box, unused, unnoticed, unappreciated. What are you going to do with the magic that’s in your new today?
Questions to ponder:
1. What kinds of great things await you on this new day in your life?
2. Where might you find some of the magic today that you might have missed on other days?
3. What are some of the best things about fresh starts? Do we always take advantage of these best things?
For further thought:
I think, what has this day brought me, and what have I given it?
