Today is About Trust on The Vissell’s Shared Heart Sunday Video
Welcome to our home, today is about TRUST, so I hope you stay tuned in. This March weather is something. We are having some very, cold, windy, rainy weather. It’s kind of exciting.
All right, so today is about trust. I’m going to share a story that I know that I’ve shared here but it’s with a different feeling. It comes with a different purpose today.
So when I was 20 years old I was a nursing student at Columbia University in New York City. I almost died and came very very close to dying. It was December and the doctor, the nurse in charge of me as a nursing student called my parents in Buffalo New York. They said if you want to see your daughter one more time you need to come immediately because we’re losing her.
My parents had no idea that I was even sick and I developed sepsis. It was probably from a dental procedure that wasn’t handled correctly. I was in the isolated ICU getting the best care that New York City had to offer. Still, I was dying.
My mother somehow got on a plane to get to New York City. While she was sitting on the plane, she realized that the chances that I wouldn’t even be alive when she got there were very great. She also realized she had two choices. She could go. She could completely panic, fall apart, and just cry the entire way to New York City or she could trust… You can hear more in the video above.
“A truly inspirational story that can open our hearts to appreciate the many miracles that can come through love, compassion, and wisdom. A real page-turner!”
—John Gray, PhD, author of Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus
