Unconditional and Unlimited Love| Daily Meditation-November 21, 2021

Today’s Quotation:

The material world. . . says:  If you use this product, you will be popular.  If you live in this neighborhood, you have arrived. If you win this award, your worth will be validated.  The material world demands that you do something to earn favor.  God doesn’t work this way.  His grace is a gift. There’s nothing we can do to make God love us more. There’s nothing we can do—or can have done—to make God love us less.  And when we accept this—not just nonchalantly agree, intellectually, that it’s true, but hide it in our very hearts—it fills our life sails with a cleansing breeze.

Today’s Meditation:

I really like it when people write about God in a non-denominational sense, when they address the concept of God in a way that doesn’t judge anyone else for what they choose to believe or not to believe.  If we truly accept God as omnipotent and all-loving, then there is no reason to believe that he would limit his love for any particular individual who ever has lived, for unlimited love is simply that– unlimited–and there’s no room in the concept for anger or resentment or retribution.

We seem to feel, though, that we’re somehow not worthy of God’s love.  For some reason, we think that other people are more worthy of it, more likely to receive it.  But that is simply impossible.  God’s love is unlimited, and it is unconditional.  It’s that simple–really, it is.  There’s nothing we can do to earn it, and doing good deeds won’t make God love us any more.  We already have that love, unconditionally and in an unlimited supply.

Unfortunately, though, many of us tend to block it off, to stop its flow because of our own thoughts.  Or we shift our focus to the material world, trying to succeed in the eyes of other people who may or may not have our best interests in mind.  We look for validation of who we are, what we accomplish, what we stand for, what we believe.  But we truly do not need that validation, for we already are loved.

Whatever you conceive God to be, you have God’s love.  Unlimited love does not have a place for judgment and ridicule.  Unlimited and unconditional love, once accepted, is the most liberating resource that we can find in our lives, the element that can turn our lives into the fulfilling, loving, potential-filled experiences they were meant to be.

Questions to ponder:

1.  To where do you look for validation and acceptance?

2.  What does unconditional and unlimited love mean to you?

3.  Can truly unconditional love allow for judgment and retribution?

For further thought:

God’s love is just like the sun, constant and shining for us all.  And just as the earth rotates around the sun, it is the natural order for us to move away for a
season, and then to return closer, but always within the appropriate time.
