We Sometimes Expect Too Much of the Secular Society-My Rhymes and Reasons 9.9.24
Join Greg while he talks about secular society and our expectations. It’s a Monday, and I am Greg with today’s edition of My Rhymes and Reasons. Greetings to you today from one of the Washington State fairies.
I’m on the Tacoma, traveling from Bainbridge Island to Seattle. I’ve loved riding fairy boats ever since I was a little kid. We have grandparents in Seattle, who visit them often, and relatives in Poulsbo and Keyport, so we often go there. I loved riding the ferry, getting out on the open water, and seeing Mount Rineer in the distance. Today, if you look closely, you can see the city of Seattle in the background, just beyond my shoulder.
I can’t see it very well, but it’s there, and believe it or not, I’ll be there in about 15 minutes. The city of Seattle is closer than it appears, but I’m not there yet.
Recently, I had lunch with a friend, John Hayes, who is one of my best friends. John and I were classmates in college; he was at our wedding 42 years ago, and John and I continue to interact with one another. He lives over in Poulsbo, where he’s a successful realtor, and we get together regularly. We share what we’ve been watching and what we’ve been reading. He told me about a book. He’s reading in which the author is helping Christians realize that we sometimes expect too much of the secular society we live in…You can listen to more in the video above.
